HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR CLOTHES?!

More conscious factors of sustainability and consumption.

"According to EarthPledge, a non-profit organization committed to promoting and supporting sustainable development: "at least 8,000 chemicals are used to convert raw materials into textiles and 25% of pesticides are used to grow non-organic cotton. This causes irreversible damage to people and the biophysical environment, and also two thirds of the garments' carbon footprint will occur after their purchase".

How many of us have made conscious purchases???!

Well, we are few after comparing for many years in the big fashion chains in charge of mass reproduction, of thousands and thousands of garments. many of these manufactured in China, India and Bangladesh to name a few.

The wastewater from this process contains numerous contaminants, such as antimony, with dyes, azo dyes, causing DNA damage. Nonylphenol ethoxylates, phthalates, chromium VI, heavy metals, alkylphenols, formaldehyde Amines are also used, potentially toxic products such as trace elements, flame retardants or certain pigments are used for dyes in some garments that could lead to potential systemic risks, and even mean "cancer risks etc. ingredients that become common components present in the garments we use every day.

The use of pesticides to obtain the cotton is added to the manufacturing processes. About 2.5 percent of the world's arable land is used to grow cotton. to cotton plantations that consume, in turn, 25 percent of the pesticides used globally. and that's not all, once manufactured, the substances used in their production do not disappear completely after distribution and sale. Scientists have been analyzing for years what happens when the final consumer is exposed to these textiles can have allergic reactions.

Wow is like a plop! After understanding all this process that involves the production of a garment, and especially to become aware of the damage we are proving to the environment.

I started to make more responsible purchases, adopted good practices such, even every day I tray the reduce the use of plastic and recycle. According to some publications made by different companies that are part of this growing philosophy of sustainability, and only 68% of consumers agree that governments should ensure that clothing is produced in a sustainable way. Only 75% of consumers believe that brands can protect the environment and verify each stage of manufacturing their products. It is important that fashion brands reduce their long-term impact on the world, thus contributing to poverty reduction, impact on climate change, environmental protection and gender equality.
